The Institute of Human Virology (IHV) is currently recruiting a Business Operations Specialist. The Business Operations Specialist will coordinate business operations for the Research Initiative in Infectious Disease and Substance Use (RIIS). This is a clinical care and research program with over 20 staff and 5 research sites spanning two cities.

Primary Duties:

  • Manages day-to-day business operations for the RIIS program including finance, procurement, travel, etc.
  • Works closely with Senior Director, Research Operations to support RIIS program in Washington, DC.
  • Facilitate requests from RIIS Directors.
  • Adhere, propose, interpret, implement, and ensure standards of operation, policies, protocols, and procedures to ensure compliant, effective, and efficient operations of business functions.
  • Maintain purchasing records, serve as a reviewer/approver, and ensure cardholders maintain compliance with policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, finance, marketing, accounting, human resources, or other related field.

Experience: Three (3) years of business-related experience to position required, with at least one (1) year experience in at least two of the following: human resources, payroll, finance, facility, or research administration.

Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted.

Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently. Hiring Range: $68,000 - $75,000, Commensurate with education and experience
