Responsibilities of an Associate Federal Principal include delivering great work, developing professional networks, growing your craft, and aspiring to the role of a Federal Principal within our practice. The role includes a variety of duties ranging from engaging in business development, leading pursuits, and directing project teams. Critical to this role is a commitment to developing and nurturing strong client relationships, beginning with pre-positioning activities and continuing through project execution.

Leadership Responsibilities:
·In coordination with the cost center Managing Principal and Federal Architecture Director, contribute to the leadership and visioning for the federal architecture practice in the local area / region.
·Assist local leadership in reaching net fees booked goals.
· Contribute to or lead capture plans, qualifications, and proposals for federal clients / pursuits, including but not limited to federal civic, healthcare, research/laboratory, and DoD projects.
·Contribute to or lead interview strategies and implementation.
· Learn / lead internal HDR marketing processes, such as GNG, Fee Development/Approval, risk awareness and data maintenance.
·Serve as Project Manager (or other roles as appropriate) on projects and prepare / negotiate project contracts.
·Maintain project oversight throughout execution, including conformance to client expectations for technical/quality, financial performance, and schedule adherence.
·Interface with clients proactively, by engaging them regularly through multiple channels.
· Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to health staff and project teams.
· In collaboration with subject matter experts, and independently when appropriate, develop abstracts and presentations for industry conferences, seminars, workshops, and other similar events promoting sector messages, research, project outcomes, lessons learned, trends, etc.
· Actively cultivate of a network of industry partners for intelligence gathering and strategic development.
· Regular engagement in local relevant industry organizations

Preferred Qualifications

•    Master's degree in Architecture

•    Experience in the areas of federal facilities

•    Interest in sustainable design/LEED

•    Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp and 3-D Studio Max, Rhino and Grasshopper
 



Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture
  • 10 years related experience
  • A minimum 5 years project management experience
  • Registered Architect
  • Must be able to lead a team on projects
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Knowledge and experience within the local and regional market
  • Good planning and mentoring skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
