POSITIVE OVERVIEW
School-based Coordinator and Clinician possesses and implements the knowledge and educational background applicable to work with individuals, groups, families, other disciplines, at Grant Elementary in Santa Monica. The clinician works with all appropriate systems on behalf of the client. School-based coordinators placed on school sites are available to the school site to provide a model of social service delivery, which includes triaging referrals, coordination of mental health services, individual therapy, counseling groups, educational workshops, crisis management and case management services.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (other duties may be assigned):
General Responsibilities:
- Represent the agency in a professional manner at school-site, community meetings, groups and training sessions.
- Takes responsibility in gathering knowledge and developing skills needed to perform job duties.
- Adheres to ethical and legal standards of the agency and profession.
- Attends weekly group supervision and individual supervision, as well as staff meetings and clinical trainings and racial justice workshops.
- Meets with the Manager of School-based Services weekly for clinical supervision / administrative duties
- Represents FSSM at various school, community meetings and events
- Performs all other tasks as instructed by the Manager of School-based Services and the Clinical Director.
- Upholds social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion within all aspects of clinical work and school mental health.
Intake Coordinator:
- Triages all school referrals and assesses to determine best course of action (options include brief or more formal psychosocial assessment, refer to individual therapy, groups)
- Consults regularly with teachers, parents, and school administrators.
- Carry a caseload and complete psychosocial assessments, formulate, and implement service plans for all "long term" clients, including any case-management services as needed.
- Evaluate the progress of each client through treatment plans and 90 Day Reviews.
- Outreach and support to parents (can include reflective parenting groups, school events, Back-to-School Nights, PTA/ELAC meetings, parenting education via occasional PTA presentations etc.)
- Build working relationships with teachers, principal, nurse, and resource staff.
- Provide consultation to teachers and other professionals when necessary.
- Provide in-class presentations and teacher workshops on subjects relevant to mental health as requested by teachers and admin.
- Attend all meetings, groups and training sessions as directed by the Manager of School-based Services.
- Maintain client records in accordance with agency policy and standards, progress notes, outcomes measures and other reports.
- Complete all mandated paperwork (i.e., DMH) as per agency and state requirement.
- Meet or exceed DMH productivity standard as set annually by the agency.
- Coordinate short-term psycho educational groups (can include working with MSW interns who are available to co-lead groups). Home visits as needed.
- Participation in school climate-related activities on campus (such as anti-bullying program committees)
- Assist with crisis intervention and emergency preparedness on the school campuses as requested.
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards of the agency and profession.
- Represent the agency in a professional manner in meetings, groups and training sessions.
- Coordinate all activities on the school site regarding mental health to clients, including logistical oversight of MSW intern's duties.
- Document and upkeep statistics for City grant; complete mid-year and year-end reports; and present year-long reports at year-end meeting.
WHAT YOU BRING TO VDM?
- MSW or MFT registered with the California BBS, with at least 1 year of experience providing direct clinical service to children in K-5 school setting and with DMH experience.
- Preferably Bilingual (Spanish)
- Basic computer skills, including Word and Excel
- Department of Mental Health (DMH) documentation experience highly preferred
- Valid CA drivers license
SALARY: $68,640 / annually
