IonQ is developing the world's most powerful full-stack quantum computer based on trapped-ion technology. We are pushing past the limits of classical physics and current supercomputing technology to unlock a new era of computing. Quantum computing has the potential to impact every area of human society for the better. IonQ's computers will soon redefine industries like medicine, materials science, finance, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cryptography, and more. IonQ is at the forefront of this technological revolution.
As a Staff Associate, Corporate Development, you will play a critical role in driving our M&A and investment pipeline — from diligence through close and integration. This role is ideal for a finance or operations professional who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys working across disciplines, and can operate with autonomy in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities
- Deal Execution & Diligence
- Coordinate due diligence across Finance, Legal, Product, and HR for active acquisitions and minority investments.
- Own data room management, diligence trackers, and closing checklists.
- Support financial modeling, valuation, and scenario analyses for live deals.
- Integration & Path-to-Close
- Develop integration work plans for acquired companies, ensuring alignment across accounting, HR, and product teams.
- Partner with the CFO's office to prepare closing memos, board packages, and post-close tracking materials.
- Portfolio & Process Management
- Track and monitor IonQ's minority investment portfolio.
- Build standardized diligence and integration frameworks to streamline future M&A.
- Contribute to corporate reporting, including quarterly portfolio reviews and financial updates.
- Strategic Analysis
- Conduct market and company analyses to support IonQ's strategy across compute, networking, and sensing.
- Help evaluate emerging quantum and adjacent technologies for strategic alignment.
You'd be a good fit with:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in corporate development, finance, strategy, or operations at a high-growth company, venture fund, investment bank, or consulting firm.
- Strong analytical and modeling skills, with the ability to translate data into strategic recommendations.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple complex workstreams in parallel.
- Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including board-level materials.
- Active interest in deep tech, quantum, or advanced computing sectors is a plus.
