Lightmatter is (re)inventing the future of computing with light

Lightmatter is looking for a Layout Engineering Intern to join our team and contribute to the cutting edge of silicon photonics. You'll gain valuable hands-on experience by translating complex schematics into reliable layouts, while also deepening your understanding of critical layout-dependent effects like latch-up and EMIR. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your knowledge and collaborate in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Reading schematics and implementing the layout.
  • Understanding layout dependent effects such as latch up and EMIR.
  • Work with the designers to understand the requirements for an efficient and reliable layout.
  • Documenting your process and results.
  • Communicating with members of the team effectively.

Requirements: 

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field.
  • Interest in working on circuit layouts within silicon photonics substrate.
  • Familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso Layout and Caliber/Pegasus layout verification.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Willingness and curiosity to learn from an exciting team

Our internship hourly rates are a standard pay determined based on the position and your location, year in school, degree, and experience.

$43 - $47 USD
