development of policies and procedures. May be responsible for administration of moderate complexity
departmental programs.
Position Summary
The Information Technology Network Analyst diagnoses technology performance problems across all areas of the
IT support model within the District. The position is responsible for telecommunications, wireless, wide area
networking, and/or data center disciplines on a day-to-day basis. Responsibilities include researching, planning,
configuring, analyzing, and troubleshooting local, wide area, and wireless district networks; identifying, validating,
and reporting on performance, security incidents and events based on enterprise policies and procedures;
researching and reporting on advanced security or configuration related issues as well as making
recommendations for improvements to infrastructure, systems architecture, and enterprise policies. Supporting
and engineering responsibilities include access to, and the handling of, confidential or sensitive data, materials,
and enterprise information involving all levels of the organization including participation in the evaluation of new
informational technology solutions and services for instructional and administrative functions; maintains network
security and recovery operations; provides technical documentation of operating procedures, and network
systems configurations.
Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
- Participates in the successful operation and maintenance of hardware and software network solutions for
all technology environments including desktop and mobile computing, as well as telecommunications,
technical operations, and applications services; configuration and installation of various network devices
and services (e.g., access points, cabling, phones, routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS).
- Participates in troubleshooting network, infrastructure, and application issues by applying root cause
analysis to mitigate issues and establish return to service by utilizing technologically advanced hardware
and software tools to proactively monitor and analyze enterprise infrastructure in search of malicious,
illegal or fraudulent activity; enforces compliance and assists in the implementation of security policies
and procedures such as user authentication, security violation escalation, use of firewalls and encryption
methodologies and overall handling, transfer and storage of data across the enterprise.
- Collaborates in identifying and evaluating network solutions and procedures to enhance productivity and
effectiveness across the organization; delivers preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly status reports on
network and security matters to develop risk analysis scenarios, metrics, mitigation strategies and
response procedures.
- Participates in system monitoring, log analyzation, and performs investigative research.
- Infrequent occasions may be called upon to resolve issues after hours, nights, weekends, or during
holidays as needed. Expectation to be availability via mobile telephone or email for response to
emergency or related operations issues.
- Collaborates with the Technology Security team maintaining the data center security of the District's
network.
- Serves as escalation resource to IT staff in resolving basic to moderately complex issues; participates in
investigatory procedures involving computer workstations, end-user devices, enterprise servers, E-mail,
Internet services, and electronic documents, including situations directly related to employee acceptable
use and criminal violations. Monitors specialized, regional, national, and global information technology
security agencies and services to keep apprised of current security threats and concerns as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities
expected for this position.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Systems, or Business
Administration, or 4 years of equivalent experience.
2+ years network analyst or related experience.
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee
(approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Systems, Business
Administration, or related field.
5+ years network analyst or related experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proven ability to diagnose, resolve and explain moderately complex technical and procedural problems.
Proven ability to problem-solve, think critically, and manage conflicts with multiple priorities.
Broad knowledge of microcomputer system hardware and peripherals (PC, Apple, Android, Chrome)
Demonstrated knowledge of PC and network operating systems.
Proven ability to diagnose, resolve and explain moderately complex technical and procedural problems.
Proven ability to problem solve, think critically, and manage conflicts.
Excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment:
Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and
equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.
Frequent exposure to temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional
exposure to biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.
Physical Demands/Requirements:
Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines and prolonged or
irregular hours; Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing and perform
duties while on a ladder; Occasional: Lifting and carrying 10-25 pounds frequently, 25-40 pounds
occasionally, more than 45 pounds infrequently with assistance; Pushing/pulling 10-35 pounds
sporadically; May be required under specific circumstances to provide physical restraint of students in
danger of causing harm to themselves or others; Frequent districtwide and occasional statewide travel.
Perform mounting, replacement, and data writing tasks on data center and access level equipment, often
in confined spaces or awkward postures, while working in a noisy environment characterized by excessive
fan noise and other mechanical sounds including alarms.
