Salary: $50,000 - $54,000 Based on Experience
Hours/Days: Flexible schedule with the ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
High School diploma is required. A College or University degree or diploma in hospitality or hotel management is desired.
I. Summary of the main function/purpose of the position:
This Special Events Intern is responsible for assisting with creating, maintaining, and continually
improving service delivery to resort guests and owners.
II. Key Principal duties/responsibilities (5-8):
Assist with planning and following through on all special events and weddings.
Help develop, document, train, and enforce policies and procedures as it relates to weddings and
special events. Develop, communicate, direct, and maintain product and guest service standards.
Assist with sales and bookings of groups, events, meetings, and Club Portofino memberships.
Balance service satisfaction objectives with financial and business objectives. Create, implement,
and monitor methods of cost control in coordination with the Director of Sales, Events, &
Memberships throughout area of responsibility.
Ensure that all members are following the proper guidelines of being a part of Portofino Island
Homeowners' association.
Respond to guest and homeowner concerns as needed on a personal basis. Possess ability to
easily resolve conflict. Ability to interact and communicate with a wide variety of people.
Assist with short and long term Special Events Department planning. Assist in development of
annual strategic plan.
Become familiar with resort operating systems including the point of sale, credit card processing,
front office operations, restaurant operations and room rental procedures.
Knowledge and implantation of Risk Management, MSDS, OSHA, and guest safety initiatives.
Ensure resort and employee compliance. Apply legal and regulatory compliance on a daily
practice.
Ensure communication systems for weddings and special events are in place to promote owner,
guest, and employee relations including newsletters, closed circuit television programming,
flyers, eblasts, websites, etc.
Occasional duties or projects which may be performed at irregular intervals:
Assisting in other areas of the resort
Appraise employee productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending
promotions or other changes in status
Determine the type of materials, supplies, machinery, equipment or tools to be used or
merchandise to be bought, stocked and sold
III. Accountability: Areas in which the position is accountable/responsible:
Records: Maintain files and record for events
Customer Service: Attend to all guests and owner with the highest level of customer
service

V. Educational and/or equivalence in experience requirements:
Bachelor's in Hospitality, Event Planning or related fields, or equivalent work experience.
VI. Specialized equipment or machines used in the course of the duties of the position.
Personal Computer, and standard office equipment and machines as required.
VII. Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands,
and is required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, and
walk. The employee may occasionally be required to reach with hands and arms.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and
ability to adjust focus.
