Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our healthcare team. The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for cleaning, assembling, sterilizing, and distributing surgical instruments and medical equipment to ensure patient safety and support clinical operations.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, and package surgical instruments
  • Operate sterilization equipment according to established procedures
  • Ensure all instruments meet quality and safety standards before use
  • Maintain accurate sterilization records and documentation
  • Distribute sterile supplies and collect used instruments from clinical areas
  • Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory guidelines (AAMI, AORN, OSHA)
  • Identify damaged or missing instruments and report issues promptly
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Collaborate with surgical staff and other departments as needed

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organization

Preferred:

  • Sterile Processing Technician certification (CRCST, CSPDT, or equivalent)
  • Previous sterile processing or healthcare experience
  • Familiarity with instrument tracking systems

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and transport instrument trays
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity
