Job Overview

The Therapy Spot is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our pediatric multidisciplinary team. Our clinic specializes in sensory integration, developmental therapy, and family-centered care for children with a variety of sensory processing, motor, and developmental challenges. The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to implement individualized treatment plans that help children build confidence, independence, and essential life skills.

Duties

  • Carry out evidence-based occupational therapy interventions designed to improve fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, coordination, and daily living activities.
  • Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Feeding Therapists, and other professionals to provide integrated, holistic care.
  • Support children through play-based and sensory-rich activities that promote engagement and positive therapeutic outcomes.
  • Educate and coach parents/caregivers on strategies, home programs, and adaptive techniques to support carryover of therapy goals in natural environments.
  • Observe, document, and report patient performance and progress to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Prepare and maintain therapy equipment and materials to ensure a safe, organized, and engaging clinical environment.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation according to clinic standards and applicable regulations.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development sessions, and continuing education related to pediatric and sensory integration practices.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Active state licensure (or eligibility) as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Experience working with children, particularly in sensory integration, developmental delays, special high needs, and autism spectrum disorders (ASD), preferred.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative setting with other healthcare professionals is a must.
  • Creative, patient, and adaptable approach to therapy within a dynamic pediatric environment.
