Overview

Empire Estates is launching a dedicated property management company in Grand Rapids. We are looking for an experienced Michigan-licensed Real Estate Broker to serve as our Managing Broker and compliance leader. You will provide the licensing foundation, compliance oversight, and professional guidance required while we scale a lean, efficient, and fast-moving operation.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Serve as the Broker of Record per Michigan LARA requirements.

  • Ensure all leasing and property management activities comply with Michigan law.

  • Maintain records, disclosures, and documentation.

  • Oversee security deposit handling.

  • Supervise licensed agents and leasing staff.

Operational Oversight

  • Assist with building systems for leasing, onboarding, maintenance workflow, and reporting.

  • Guide policies, best practices, and operational structures.

  • Advise on trust accounts, rent collection, and compliance documentation.

Leadership & Training

  • Help recruit and onboard staff.

  • Train on Michigan regulations and professional standards.

  • Provide compliance audits and recommendations.

Strategic Partnership

  • Collaborate on expansion, service offerings, and fee structures.

  • Assist with growth planning and scaling processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Michigan Real Estate Broker License.

  • 3–5 years experience in real estate or property management.

  • Knowledge of Michigan landlord-tenant law and trust accounting.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Compensation Structure

  • Monthly retainer ($1,000–$2,500)

  • Per-door override ($1–$3/unit)

  • Percentage of leasing fees or PM revenue

  • Optional equity after year one
