Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Phoenix, AZ, for a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Manager. The GIS Manager will oversee and manage the development and implementation of GIS applications to support landscape management services. Responsibilities include maintaining enterprise GIS systems, analyzing geographic data, overseeing data management processes, and providing strategic insights through analytical tools. The position requires collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to enhance planning, decision-making, and resource efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and GIS applications
  • Experience with Enterprise GIS systems and data management
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret, visualize, and leverage geographic data
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Prior experience in managing GIS systems in landscaping, environmental, or similar industries is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a problem-solving mindset

Leadership & Development

· Supervise the performance, development, and workload of the GIS department staff-

o Manage the day to day schedules/activities related to employee management

o Is a leader in the department and company supporting the values of the 5 Behaviors of a Cohesive Team model

· Work with multiple departments to develop/help with their internal processes, as necessary or applicable

o Meets with users to define needs, project requirements and project outputs

o Implement GIS programs

· Oversee multiple projects through completion for GIS department; Managing multiple project deadlines for external and internal clients

· Oversight, training and supporting the GIS team

o Organize team for GIS events/projects

· Meet with clients as required and act as DLC's GIS representative to determine client needs

o Coordinates and assist with field consultation, included on site travel if required

· Build Strong relationships inside and outside the organization

GIS Responsibilities:

· Consult with internal operations to define and deliver specialized maps and other GIS related projects.

· Verify and follow up with collectors or data collections presented

· Provide a vision and project clarity for long-term projects to departments

· Using spatial analysis techniques to manipulate data for accuracy

· Read plans and RFPs to produce accurate maps for bidding process.

· Design/Create digital maps with multiple data sources

· Transform/clean received data to its final desired form

o Enter data, validate accuracy and maintain existing databases

o Create new databases as needed for new data

· Digitizing, creating, maintaining, displaying and updating GIS databases

o Maintaining databases for multiple department

o Maintain and enhances GIS datasets/databases to evolving needs and resources

· Managing digital library of maps in various files types

· Analyzing data with current mapping software

· Produce accurate maps and other representations of data for field activity

· Ensure data accuracy by going out in the field to resolve conflicts

· Work with support specialist for any reporting needs

· Research, analyzes, and evaluates new GIS applications with emphasis on business needs

· Managing GIS pro training modules and training needs

o Develop process documentation on an ongoing basis

o Overviewing/producing GIS training for new employees

o Provide support and expertise for GIS application

· Interface with consultants and vendors for maximum guidance in determining the most appropriate approach in GIS functionality

· Develop, design, implement, and maintain software GIS application utilization

o Design and create templates for survey reporting

o Configure, customize or develop GIS web applications

· Directly assists with complex projects and work flows as required

· Work with IT to ensure GIS technical functionality Meet with clients as required and act as DLC's GIS representative to determine client needs

· Support all oversized in-house printing for all departments on plotter

o Ordering equipment and services for printer needs

· Update PDF maps to DLC portal for client viewership

· Analyzes and evaluates GIS program direction and procedure modification; develops or assists in developing policies and procedures for GIS processes.

· Stay current with future trends in GIS technology; applies and documents new techniques as they are implemented

· Regular attendance in an office environment

Experience: (Minimum work background which provides the skills necessary for successful performance)

· Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with a major in Geography or related field; or Associates Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 3 or more years of GIS experience

· 2 or more years of supervisory experience - preferred

· To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a high-level understanding of concepts and techniques in Geographic Information Systems, mapping and database structures

· Proficiency in ArcMap, ArcGIS Catalog, Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Office, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, Adobe Photoshop, Power Pivot

· Ability to work with a variety of employees at different levels of the organization to complete projects.

· Ability to manage project plans to see all GIS projects through completion

· Proficiency in ArcGIS Online, Story Maps

· Proficiency in Enterprise GIS database

· Proficiency in ESRI or Data capturing application

· Proficiency in computer languages (Model Builder, Python, Arcade Expression, HTML)

· Knowledge of Crystal Reports

· SQL database management

· Ability to become an approved driver for DLC Resources
