SUMMARY:  
The Senior Engineer or Engineer III is a highly skilled and experienced engineer who is responsible for leading and executing engineering projects. The Senior Engineer will work closely with other engineers, technicians, and researchers to develop products and technologies, to improve products and processes, and solve engineering problems. This included the design, testing, and certification of components, engines, and aircraft.  
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  
  • Consistently creates clear, concise, and inspectable, and manufacturable design data according to the company standards, related specifications, Engineering principles, Customer, and regulatory requirements. Understands when it is appropriate to use GD&T, but biases towards standards. Provides design assistance and information. 
  • Consistently creates clear, concise, and complete documentation including all required sections and content. Creates, Reviews, and approves technical documents including engineering reports, certification documents, and manuals. Maintains and trains document standards and best practices.  
  • Creates and reviews complete and complex change requests and notices in accordance with standards. Always verify certification criteria, revision history, and change impact. Reviews and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.  
  • Creates and reviews complete and complex change notices including stock lists, objects associations, attributes of links in accordance with standards. 
  • Provides clear and concise status and progress reports to the customer, project team, and management. Plan and implement engineering projects including budget schedules, and management. Plan and Implement engineering projects including budget schedules, and deliverables in accordance with company, customer, and certification requirements. Analyze project proposals to determine feasibility, producibility, cost, and production time. Coordinate preparation and the delivery of project deliverables, design data, and bid packages.  
  • Proficient at using appropriate analytical methods such as failure, pareto, materials, stress, fatigue, and fatigue, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). 
  • Proficient at creating requirements and using systematics verification and validation techniques to identify all issues associated with a change or requirement and identify cross change issues.  
  • Understands the products development lifecycle at a high level and can gather sufficient context to work productively within it. Has expertise in a portion of their team's department. 
  • Designs are consistently aligned with the overall product architecture. Utilize standard parts and design standards effectively.  
  • Approaches all engineering work with a security Lens. Actively look for security vulnerabilities including protection of intellectual property, import and export compliance.  

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Master's degree in Engineering 
  • 7+ years of experience in a relevant engineering field 
  • Strong understanding of materials science and dynamic load applications 
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities 
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team 
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage within budget constraints 
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% 
 
Preferred Qualifications 
  • Familiarity with reciprocating engines, especially in aviation applications 
  • Active Pilot's License 
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License 
  • Ph.D. in Engineering 
  • 10+ years of experience in a relevant engineering field 
  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role 
  • Project management experience 
  • Background in lean manufacturing principles 
  • Experience with Six Sigma methodologies
Technical Skills 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong capabilities in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint 
  • Experience with NetSuite for enterprise resource planning 
  • Familiarity with CAD and PLM tools including Creo, AutoCAD, and Windchill (a plus) 
WORK ENVIORNMENT 
This role works within an office and industrial environment.  Applicant must be willing to wear PPE to include safety glasses, appropriate footwear, safety vests and other PPE as required. The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, and sitting. This position is onsite, Monday through Friday, with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads.  Regular and reliable attendance is required.
