Reporting to the Director of Experience Design for Marketing and Buying Experiences, the Principal UX Architect will lead efforts aimed at optimizing the information architecture to enhance conversion rates and drive growth on This role requires a strategic mindset, strong analytical skills, the ability to work through ambiguity, critical thinking, and proven leadership experience. The ideal candidate will excel in organizing information, collaborating across functions, and executing with a customer-centric approach.

Responsibilities

  • Information Architecture Leadership: Champion the structuring and organization of content and functionality by evaluating the intersection of business needs, customer needs, and technical opportunities.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product management, engineering, and data science teams to map out, verify, and build effective information flows.
  • Artifact Creation: Develop and deliver compelling artifacts such as site maps, wireframes, taxonomies, task flows, and conceptual diagrams that communicate current states and proposed solutions for strategic alignment and innovation.
  • Customer Research and Testing: Lead customer research activities and quantitative A/B testing to inform and refine information architecture. Conduct user testing to validate structural decisions and gather insights for iteration.
  • Thought Leadership: Engage with designers and information architects across the company and industry to share best practices, promote collaboration, and drive innovative approaches in information architecture.
  • Design-Thinking Facilitation: Plan and facilitate design-thinking exercises that focus on structuring information to break through organizational silos and solve complex challenges collaboratively.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional experience in information architecture and user experience design
  • 4+ years of experience in structuring e-commerce/transactional experiences
  • Proven expertise in top-of-funnel website design, driving conversion, and conducting large-scale hypothesis testing related to information architecture
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in problem definition and analysis, understanding user workflows, and creating prototypes and structures that solve customer problems
  • Ability to visualize and prototype information architectures at various levels of fidelity, from high-level site maps to detailed technical documents
  • Ability to present architectures and design rationales to diverse audiences, including software development, QA, learning content development, marketing, and sales teams
  • Up-to-date expertise in best practices for information architecture and human-centered design
  • Experience with various customer research methods, including interviews, contextual inquiries, usability testing, etc.
  • Excellent visual and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex ideas and large amounts of data into clear, actionable insights

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information science, interaction design, or a related field.
  • Experience architecting for enterprise software, SaaS, cloud, and multi-channel experiences.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies for software design and development.
  • Experience with Autodesk or comparable competitive products.

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $133,300 and $215,600. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
