PURPOSE:
Join our data team to build and operate real-time, event-driven data solutions using modern cloud-native tools. You'll collaborate cross-functionally to design and implement scalable data pipelines and architecture using AWS Glue, Redshift, dbt, and Python. We're seeking someone passionate about automation, clean data modeling, and serverless best practices to support analytics, operations, reporting, and data science use cases.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and performant data pipelines using AWS (Glue, Lambda, S3, etc.), dbt, and Python.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Analytics, Marketing, and Executive teams to understand data needs and deliver trusted solutions.
- Model and transform raw data into clean, testable dbt datasets for analytics and reporting use.
- Build and maintain an AWS-based data lake and Redshift-based data warehouse infrastructure.
- Identify opportunities to enable non-technical teams throughout Wondr to achieve their respective business objectives using data.
- Develop and maintain automated data quality and testing frameworks.
- Implement event-driven architectures and near real-time processing pipelines.
- Optimize data workflows for performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability.
- Ensure proper documentation of data models, data flows, and business logic.
- Advocate for data engineering best practices (version control, CI/CD, modular design).
- Maintain data security and compliance with HIPAA and internal policies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Self-starter who can handle several work items independently

- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities
- Thorough knowledge of relational and NoSQL database theory and practice as well as familiarity with a variety of databases
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Experience building ELT pipelines and event-driven data architectures.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD workflows, and automated testing frameworks.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists
- Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Must be knowledgeable of and comply with Wondr Health's Client Privacy Policy, HIPAA regulations and E&O procedures and policies
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, analytics, information systems or a related field preferred
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
- Proficient in Python for data transformation and scripting.
- Strong experience with SQL, especially within Redshift or similar MPP databases.
- Hands-on experience with dbt (data build tool) for transformation and modeling.
- Expertise with AWS services including Glue, Lambda, S3, and Step Functions.
- Experience building ELT pipelines and event-driven data architectures.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD workflows, and automated testing frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented mindset.
GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
General office working conditions can be remote work from home or in the office. Each department head determines if the position is work from home or hybrid meaning works from home and in the office as needed. Work schedules vary. When working in the office pod workstation area there is little or no privacy. Involves extended periods of sitting at a workstation performing computer duties. Constant flow of interruptions by personnel, visitors to area and telephone calls. Private workstations are available as needed. Certain positions are assigned to an office.
