Stable Hand for an Equine Rescue

Riverside, California, United States Stable Hand for 4 horses Full time

Duties Include:

- Feeding and watering horses according to their specific dietary needs

- Cleaning and maintaining stalls, including removing soiled bedding and replenishing fresh bedding -Removing any safety issues such as gopher holes or plants not safe for horses

- Grooming horses, including brushing, bathing, eye care, and mane/tail care

- Exercising horses, such as turning them out to pasture or hand-walking

- Assisting with veterinary and farrier visits, including distracting horses for examinations or treatments

- Administering medications or supplements as directed by the rescue owners.

- Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the barn and surrounding areas, such as weeding, picking up trash, ect.

Horse experience will help, but we can also teach you everything you need to know.

Beneficial Qualifications:

- Experience working with horses in a professional setting

- Knowledge of horse care and handling techniques

- Ability to recognize signs of illness or injury in horses and take appropriate action

- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with other stable staff and horse owners

- Emergency management skills, including CPR and first aid training

- Leadership abilities to supervise other stable hands if necessary

Please note that this position may require working early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The ability to work in all weather conditions is also necessary.
