Summary/Objective: 

The CNC Machine Operator runs computer numerical control machines to fabricate parts. The CNC Machine Operator loads parts in the machine, cycles the machine and detects malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The operator runs production orders, communicates with co-workers regarding production runs, and maintains a safe, organized, and clean work environment while adhering to our quality standards. 

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily working indoors in a manufacturing      environment.
  • May stand for 8 or more hours at a time.
  • Prolonged exposure to noise, machinery,      forklifts, metal shavings, and slick floors.
  • Repetitive use of hands.

Essential Functions:

1. Performs all assigned machine shop operations.

2. Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to management or designee. 

3. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition in accordance with shift hand-off procedures and follows prescribed safety procedures.

4. Regularly performs milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing, and sanding tasks. 

5. Performs quality inspection of machined products, and documents results according to quality standards.

6. Completes and maintains quality paperwork for parts. 

7. Assists in other work areas to perform fabrication, lay-out of parts, filtration of coolant and burnishing tasks. 

8. Follow all company rules, continuous improvement initiatives, quality standards and safety policies (OSHA).

9. Ensure production schedule completion.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring. 

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. The team member is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position requires frequent lifting, pushing and pulling objects that are 25 pounds. The team member may frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time hourly position, and hours/days of work are decided by production schedules and the direct supervisor. 

Travel:

No travel is required for this position.

Required Education and Experience:

1. Ability to read tape measure, micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

2. Ability to speak, hear, read, and be trained in the English language.

3. Ability to perform basic math with decimals.

Preferred Education and Experience:

1. One or more years of related experience highly preferred.

2. Certified/technical training.

3. Experience with equipment used at this facility.
