Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Human Resources Generalist, who is responsible for supporting and executing all HR operations for the Lusamerica Fife, Washington food-processing and packaging facility, serving approximately 160 employees. This position provides bilingual (English/Spanish) HR support, employee relations guidance, full administrative HR function, and works closely with the Plant Manager, HR leadership, supervisors, and employees to ensure compliance, consistency, and operational excellence.

The Senior HR Generalist assists with day-to-day HR responsibilities including recruiting, onboarding, safety and compliance documentation, leaves of absence, workers' compensation coordination, employee relations, performance management, HRIS administration, employee training, and maintaining accurate personnel and I-9 files.

This role involves managing day-to-day HR responsibilities including recruiting, onboarding, safety and compliance documentation, leaves of absence, workers' compensation coordination, employee relations, performance management, HRIS administration, employee training, and maintaining accurate personnel and I-9 files, ensuring compliance with employment and labor laws, and fostering a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:

- HR Operations & Administration

  • Serve as the primary on-site HR representative for daily plant operations.
  • Manage personnel files, I-9 compliance and accurate documentation.
  • Maintain HRIS data integrity and ensure timely updates to employee records.
  • Prepare HR correspondence, letters, notices, and reports as required.
  • Support payroll preparation through timely submission of timekeeping, corrections, and approvals.

- Employee Relations

  • Provide bilingual support to employees and address questions regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures.
  • Conduct investigations into employee concerns, complaints, or policy violations under HR leadership guidance.
  • Coach supervisors on documentation, corrective action, and performance management best practices.
  • Promote a positive work environment through consistent HR presence on the production floor.

- Recruitment, Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Partner with the Plant Manager, supervisors, and HR leadership to identify staffing needs.
  • Conduct full-cycle recruiting including job postings, screening, interviews, and hiring documentation.
  • Lead bilingual orientations and ensure new employees receive all required safety and HR trainings.
  • Coordinate offboarding, conduct exit interviews, and ensure proper separation documentation.

- Safety, Compliance & Training

  • Assist with safety initiatives, audits, accident investigations, and corrective action reports.
  • Partner with the Safety Manager and Plant Manager to maintain compliance with OSHA, Washington L&I, food-safety standards, and internal audits.
  • Support training programs such as harassment prevention, food-safety, safety practices, and policy refreshers.
  • Ensure all regulatory postings, notices, and labor law requirements are maintained.

- Leaves of Absence & Workers' Compensation

  • Process Washington State PFML, FMLA, ADA/FEHA Interactive Process, and company LOA requests.
  • Track leave usage, return-to-work clearances, and accommodations.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation claims, modified duty, and follow-ups with adjusters and supervisors.

- HR Reporting & Metrics

  • Maintain weekly, monthly, and quarterly HR reports including attendance, turnover, safety logs, onboarding metrics, and compliance dashboards

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bilingual/Biliterate in English and Spanish (read, write, speak)
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible human resources experience, preferably in manufacturing or food-processing
  • Strong knowledge of Washington State labor laws, OSHA requirements & HR compliance
  • Experience handling confidential information and sensitive employee matters with integrity and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and ADP
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field, preferred.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification
  • Experience in food production, packaging, seafood processing, or related industries
  • Experience supporting 24/7 or multi-shift operations

Work Environment

  • On-site role within a food-production environment.
  • Regular presence on processing floor required for employee support and safety compliance.
  • May require occasional travel to corporate locations or training events.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 20 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to navigate production floor environments including cold storage areas.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70, $90,000.00 per year
