Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dental practice by providing exceptional administrative support and patient service. This position requires strong organizational skills, proficiency in medical terminology, and familiarity with various electronic health record (EHR) systems. A commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and manage the front desk operations efficiently.
  • Schedule appointments and manage the dental office calendar.
  • Verify insurance information and perform insurance verification for patients.
  • Handle medical billing and coding, including CPT and ICD-10 coding.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation review in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist with medical collections as necessary.
  • Utilize EHR systems such as Dentrix or Open Dental
  • Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and managing multi-line phone systems.
  • Respond to patient inquiries with excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.
  • Collaborate with dental staff to ensure seamless patient care and service delivery.

Skills

  • Proficient in medical terminology related to dental practices.
  • Familiarity with EHR systems. Dentrix is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, Medicare processes, and medical billing practices.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus for effective communication with diverse patient populations.
  • Previous experience in a dental office or clinic setting is highly desirable.
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate documentation management.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
