Launch Speech and Reading is a family-focused clinic specializing in speech-language therapy and structured literacy for children.

We're seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Billing Specialist to take ownership of all insurance-related processes from start to finish. This role replaces our current third-party billing service and will be responsible for ensuring Launch's claims, authorizations, and reimbursements are managed efficiently and accurately.

Your contributions will include:

  • Claims Management: Prepare, submit, and track insurance claims for speech, language, literacy, and math services.
  • Eligibility & Benefits: Verify client insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage prior to evaluation and treatment.
  • Authorizations: Obtain and track prior authorizations and reauthorizations; communicate with therapists about expirations and service limits.
  • Coding & Compliance: Review CPT codes and modifiers for accuracy; stay current on payer policies related to services.
  • Payment Posting: Record insurance payments, adjustments, and denials; coordinate with the accounting team to ensure accurate revenue reporting.
  • Denial Management: Identify, appeal, and resolve denied or underpaid claims.
  • Communication: Serve as the main point of contact between Launch, payers, and families regarding insurance matters.
  • Reporting: Maintain dashboards or reports tracking outstanding claims, denials, and reimbursement trends.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 2+ years of experience in medical billing (speech therapy or allied health preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of CPT codes, EOBs, and insurance processes (Medicaid, commercial plans, etc.).
  • Familiarity with clearinghouses and EMR systems.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive in communication.
  • Comfortable collaborating with clinicians and administrative staff in a small-team environment.
  • Preferred skills:
  • Experience with Wisconsin Medicaid (ForwardHealth).
  • Understanding of therapy-specific codes.
  • Experience verifying coverage for telehealth and school-based services.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software.
