AKW LAW has an opening for a full-time Legal Assistant or Paralegal. Our firm's main focus area is employment law, representing employees and individuals. We are laid back but professional. We foster a collaborative, supportive, and growth-oriented work environment. We do not like to micromanage and believe that as long as you can produce high quality work, you're a valuable employee. The ideal candidate is extremely detail-oriented, requires limited handholding, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will support attorneys in various aspects of case preparation, document management, and client communication.

This position is hybrid and people-facing. Must have reliable transportation. Currently it is fully remote, with it moving to hybrid in the future.

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 1 year of law firm experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage people-facing duties, including answering phones, greeting clients, and handling mail and deliveries
  • Draft and edit legal documents, letters, motions, and pleadings
  • Assist attorneys with document preparation, filing, and organization
  • Manage office calendar, schedule meetings, and track deadlines
  • Maintain and organize case files and electronic filing systems
  • Communicate with clients, courts, witnesses, and other parties
  • Support attorneys in trial preparation and various administrative tasks
  • Draft and handle discovery and investigate facts
  • E-file documents, obtain records, and other supporting duties

Pay depends on experience and is likely to range from $20-$30/hour.
