Overview:

Support civil engineering projects through technical design, analysis, and field coordination. The Civil Engineer Technician II assists engineers in the preparation of plans, reports, and calculations for land development and infrastructure projects, performs data collection and field inspections, and ensures work aligns with company standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Direction

  • Perform work under general supervision, taking ownership of defined project tasks and exercising sound judgment within established procedures.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to entry-level technicians and interns.
  • Seek feedback and guidance from engineers and project managers to ensure high-quality, compliant deliverables.

At the Operational and Company Level

  • Collaborate closely with project engineers, designers, and cross-functional teams to execute civil engineering tasks.
  • Coordinate with external partners, jurisdictions, and utility providers to obtain data, verify field conditions, and support project approvals.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to improving processes and project efficiency.
  • Represent the company professionally in interactions with clients, regulators, and contractors.

Do the Work

  • Conduct feasibility and due diligence studies, including reviewing existing site records, topographic data, and regulatory documents.
  • Prepare and modify plans, drawings, and technical exhibits using CAD software under minimal supervision.
  • Assist in the design and layout of site grading, stormwater management systems, utilities, erosion and sediment control, and roadway geometry.
  • Perform field investigations, collect as-built data, and support construction administration activities such as RFIs, submittal reviews, and punch lists.
  • Prepare and compile technical reports, cost estimates, and documentation for permitting and design submittals.
  • Contribute to quality assurance by checking drawings and calculations for accuracy and consistency.
  • Maintain organized project files and ensure adherence to company CAD and drafting standards.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field required.
  • Two to four (2–4) years of experience in civil engineering design, drafting, or related technical roles.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Experience in site grading, stormwater management, utility design, and erosion control preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record check required.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

  • Primarily indoor professional office environment, which can consist of possible bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
  • Partially outdoor work environment which may include exposure to adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
