Description

BGIS is currently seeking a Senior Program Manager – Controls and Automation Engineer to join the team in South Jordan, UT.

Purpose Statement: Optimize performance and sustainability of data center operations through design, development, and maintenance of tailored control systems for power distribution, cooling, and mechanical infrastructure.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Controls System Design & Optimization

  • Design, develop, and maintain control systems for data center power distribution, cooling, and mechanical systems.
  • Monitor system performance, analyze data, and adjust controls to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support integration and maintenance of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS).

Project Leadership & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Controls and Monitoring team and stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions aligned with client operational goals.
  • Lead large-scale control system projects from conception through implementation and commissioning.
  • Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and optimization of existing systems to ensure reliability and performance.

Documentation & Standards

  • Prepare technical documentation and standard operating procedures for system operations and maintenance.
  • Contribute to energy efficiency projects and sustainable practices in data center operations.
  • Contribute to completion of other key initiatives as assigned.

Required Education, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in controls engineering with focus on data center or similar critical environments.
  • Expertise in programming, configuring, and managing PLCs, SCADA, and HMIs within BMS and EPMS systems.
  • Proficient understanding of data center infrastructure systems (electrical and mechanical).
  • Familiarity with EtherNET/IP, Modbus, and BACnet protocols.
  • Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and system optimization skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and schematics.
  • Demonstrated experience managing full-lifecycle control system projects.
  • Preferred: Experience with Rockwell FactoryTalk and Studio 5000 or similar platforms.
  • Preferred: Experience with energy efficiency and sustainability projects in data centers.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel 5–10% of the time; valid driver's license required.
  • Participation in on-call rotation (team schedule).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook.
