Communications Officer

Overview
The Communications Officer plays a vital role in ensuring effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders. This position requires a skilled professional who can manage multi-line phone systems, handle phone triage, and provide exceptional support in high-pressure situations. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, analysis capabilities, and the ability to manage conflicts efficiently. EMT experience or knowledge of medical terminology is a plus, as is familiarity with GIS and GPS technologies.
Responsibilities
- Manage incoming calls through multi-line phone systems, ensuring proper phone etiquette and triage.
- Provide clear and concise communication to internal teams and external partners.
- Utilize GIS and GPS tools for mapping and resource allocation as needed.
- Maintain accurate data entry and transcription of communications for record-keeping purposes.
- Assist in dispatching services while adhering to safety protocols and security measures.
- Apply negotiation skills to resolve conflicts effectively while maintaining professionalism.
- Analyze information quickly to make informed decisions during emergencies or urgent situations.
- Collaborate with law enforcement and emergency services as required, ensuring effective communication flow.
- Stay updated on medical terminology, first aid practices, and relevant procedures to assist in emergency situations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an EMT or in a similar medical role is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with GIS technology and GPS systems is an advantage.
- Strong typing skills with attention to detail for accurate data entry and transcription tasks.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly.
- Proven conflict management abilities to handle challenging situations effectively.
- Experience in dispatching or working within law enforcement environments is beneficial.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining composure and professionalism.
- Strong analytical skills to assess situations quickly and provide appropriate responses.
- Proficiency in using multi-line phone systems and other communication tools. This role is essential for maintaining operational efficiency within our organization, ensuring that all communications are handled professionally and effectively.

Pay: $46, $55,608.03 per year
