Requirements:

At least 21 years of age

Valid driver's license

High school diploma or GED required

Proven experience as a heavy-duty mechanic or diesel technician

Strong knowledge of diesel engines, air brakes, electrical systems, and vehicle diagnostics

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins

Ability to pass background check and drug screening

Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety

Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime when needed

Ability to operate company equipment

Possession of personal tools

Not required but preferred:

ASE certification or technical school training

Past experience working with buses, trucks, or large commercial vehicles

CDL

Responsibilities:

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, HVAC systems, and electrical components

Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests using computerized tools and manual methods

Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to provide timely and effective solutions

Document maintenance activities and repairs accurately for compliance and record-keeping

Collaborate with dispatch and operations to schedule repairs and minimize fleet downtime

Assist with emergency roadside repairs as needed

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment

Stay current with industry trends, safety regulations, and best practices

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods

Capability to lift and move heavy parts and equipment (up to 50 lbs) safely

Manual dexterity and physical stamina to handle tools and machinery

Comfortable working in noisy, hot, or oily environments

Skills:

Advanced knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, and vehicle electrical components

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with an eagerness to learn

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins

Solid organizational skills for documentation, parts tracking, and workflow management

Clear communication skills, both verbal and written, when working with team members, dispatch, and drivers

Team-oriented attitude with the ability to work independently and stay productive

Adaptability in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility to prioritize urgent repairs or roadside assistance

Strong work ethic and personal accountability, with attention to detail in all aspects of maintenance and repair
