Little Canada, Minnesota, United States Atlan Full time

Data is at the core of modern business, yet many teams struggle with its overwhelming volume and complexity. At Atlan, we're changing that. As the world's first active metadata platform, we help organisations transform data chaos into clarity and seamless collaboration.

From Fortune 500 leaders to hyper-growth startups, from automotive innovators redefining mobility to healthcare organisations saving lives, and from Wall Street powerhouses to Silicon Valley trailblazers — we empower ambitious teams across industries to unlock the full potential of their data.

Recognised as leaders by Gartner and Forrester and backed by Insight Partners, Atlan is at the forefront of reimagining how humans and data work together. Joining us means becoming part of a movement to shape a future where data drives extraordinary outcomes.

Who We Are

Atlan is building the future of human–data interaction — where every person can confidently ask questions of their data and get accurate, trustworthy answers through natural language.

We're a team of customer-facing Data and Analytics Engineers in Atlan's AI Labs business unit. We focus on creating dynamic outcomes for our customers by building custom Talk-to-Data solutions.

What We Do

We partner with enterprise customers to improve the accuracy and reliability of AI-assisted data interactions (our "Talk-to-Data" experiences), diving deep into their data infrastructure, analytics systems, and usage patterns.

We run technical workshops, lead investigations into accuracy gaps, and collaborate closely with Atlan's engineering and product teams to make systematic improvements that scale across customers.

What You'll Do

You're a Senior Data / Analytics Engineer who thrives at the intersection of data, AI, and customer experience. In this role, you'll work directly with some of the world's most data-driven organizations to make their AI-powered data experiences more accurate, scalable, and impactful.

This role is for someone who enjoys the satisfaction of solving complex technical problems with customers and is equally comfortable writing code, leading technical sessions, and influencing product evolution.

  • Partner directly with enterprise customers to improve the accuracy of AI-powered data interactions in their environments.
  • Lead and facilitate technical workshops to uncover sources of error or inconsistency in data agent responses.
  • Analyze, debug, and optimize integrations with modern data stacks (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, etc.) to ensure high-quality, contextually accurate results.
  • Translate customer insights into scalable solutions and internal improvements to Atlan's AI and data infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to design experiments, test accuracy improvements, and contribute to Atlan's broader AI data intelligence roadmap.
  • Develop playbooks and tools to make accuracy improvement repeatable and measurable across customers.
  • Mentor junior engineers or data specialists as the team grows in scope and complexity.

What You Bring

  • 6+ years of professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, or analytics infrastructure, with a deep understanding of how data moves through modern stacks.
  • Strong coding skills in Python, Go, or a similar modern language; comfort working with APIs, cloud platforms, and large-scale data systems.
  • Experience working directly with customers or external partners in a technical capacity — consulting, implementation, or technical success roles.
  • Solid understanding of SQL, metadata, and data quality concepts; ability to reason about accuracy, schema, and data context.
  • Excellent communication skills — you can explain complex technical issues to both engineers and business stakeholders.
  • (Bonus) Familiarity with AI/LLM systems, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or natural language interfaces to data.
  • (Bonus) Prior experience in a startup or high-growth environment where you've had to balance engineering excellence with customer velocity.

Your Roadmap to Success

Your First 30 Days

  • Work with at least one customer to increase their accuracy from X to Y percent
  • Run a successful customer workshop by the end of the month
  • Keep exploring You've run at least 2-3 complex experiments

Your First 90 Days

  • You've successfully helped 1-2 customers to deploy their TTD use case
  • One or two experiments are admitted back into the workflow
  • You've crafted your own authentic Talk To Data story to share with customers
  • We have a backlog of experiments to explore, and you're prioritizing based on business needs
