About the Role

This assignment is for an experienced ICU Float Pool Registered Nurse supporting a large, nationally recognized acute care facility. The RN will float across multiple high-acuity ICU units and may float down to MS/Tele, PCU/Stepdown, and Overflow PACU as needed. The facility is a Level I academic teaching hospital and comprehensive transplant center with complex cardiac, neuro, trauma, and transplant patient populations.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-acuity ICU care across multiple specialty units including Neuro, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Instability, Transplant, GI/GU, and Shock.
• Provide safe and effective nursing care for adults and geriatric populations in a 24-bed ICU environment.
• Manage ventilated patients and operate HFNC, CPAP, BiPAP, and advanced airway equipment.
• Perform arterial line care, central line care, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, sedation monitoring, and continuous paralytic administration.
• Interpret ABGs, manage dysrhythmias, and perform 12-lead ECG acquisition.
• Manage Swan Ganz/Pulmonary Artery Lines (required).
• Support care for patients with multisystem organ failure, hemodynamic instability, neurological compromise, and transplant-related conditions.
• Provide care across float cluster units:
• 8SCCT: Neuro
• 7SCCT: Respiratory failure, vent support, hemodynamic instability
• 6SCCT/4SCCT: AMI with complications
• 5SCCT: GI/GU bleeds, environmental injuries, shock, massive transfusion
• Transplant: Liver, kidney, pancreas, heart/lung
• Maintain infection prevention practices and isolation precautions.
• Document all care in Epic per teaching hospital standards.
• Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams including PT, Respiratory, Pharmacy, RRT, Lift Teams, Social Services, Transport, and more.

Requirements

• Experience:
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience
• Must include experience in a 400+ bed facility
• First-time travelers accepted only with 3+ years ICU experience
• PA Line experience required (hard stop)
• Travel Experience: Required
• Teaching Hospital Experience: Required
• Licensure: Active RN license
• Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Preferred Certifications: CCRN
• Preferred Skills: Level I Trauma, charge experience
• Charting: Epic required
• Additional Screening Criteria:
• EKG exam administered on day 1; must pass
• Strong cardiac, neuro, and trauma experience preferred

• Setting: Teaching hospital; high-acuity ICU clusters
• Beds: 24 beds per adult ICU
• Patient Population: Adults, geriatrics
• Daily Census: 24 beds per unit
• Float Requirements: Yes
• ICU, MS/Tele, Overflow, PACU, PCU, Stepdown
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks
• Pre-Approved RTO: 1 request
• RTO Restrictions:
• Max 7 days
• No RTO during first 2 weeks
• Cannot request Christmas week or New Year's week
• Must work 2 of 4 winter holidays

Travel Contract Details

• Contract Length: 13–15 weeks available
• Shift Options: 36 or 48 hours

Rates

• Pay: $76.20
• Overtime: $99.06/hr (1.3xhourly pay after 48 hours)
• Double Time: $129.54/hr (1.7xhourly pay after 12 hours/day)
• Holiday Pay: $114.30/hr (1.5xhourly pay)
