JOB DESCRIPTION
The Attorney General's Office in Augusta has an opening for an Assistant Attorney General (AAG) within the Professional and Financial Regulation Division of the Office. The primary responsibility of this AAG will be to provide advice, counsel, and legal representation to the Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection (BCCP) within the Department of Professional Regulation (DPFR). Additionally, this AAG will prosecute professional licensing cases in administrative tribunals including before other agencies including the Office of Securities, programs and boards within and affiliated with DPFR. This work involves advising agency employees, handling disciplinary complaints against licensed professionals, providing legal analysis and opinions on regulatory matters, performing agency rule review, defending agency decisions on appeal to the Superior Court, and enforcing agency orders in court.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This is not an entry level position. The applicant must be a member of the Maine Bar in good standing, have an eye for legal detail, be interested in complex state regulation, have strong legal advocacy and writing skills, and have a demonstrated ability to function effectively as part of a team. One to three years of legal practice with demonstrated proficiency in administrative law and litigation is preferred.
