Essential FunctionsAssist in the design, support, and management of telecommunications infrastructure, including PBXs, call management systems, voicemail, interactive voice response, and video conferencing systems. Perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of telecommunications problems and service outages; recommend and implement corrective solutions. Perform real-time monitoring of services as assigned. Generate telecommunications usage and traffic reports. Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning to meet future telecommunications needs. Prepare and utilize technical documentation, including contingency planning. Liaise with equipment and software vendors during installations, acquisition negotiations, and performance issues. Develop partnerships with faculty and staff from other departments in support of technology on campus. Work effectively with other IS and campus employees to ensure continued support of services.
Additional Duties
Incumbent is instrumental in the implementation, daily maintenance, and on-going support of campus-wide computing services. Contributes to the design and documentation of campus-wide technical architecture. Must be highly knowledgeable in the technical areas of systems administration, quality assurance testing, and information security on large scale campus-wide managed systems with 15-30,000 user accounts. Ability to understand and communicate technical and functional information. Excellent writing and communication skills. Demonstrated proactive engagement and self-management. Experience implementing delivered and developed software applications. Ability and desire to learn new skills. Desire to be associated with higher education due to its operating culture, a desire to teach, or a desire to further formal education.

Required Qualifications
Required Education: Associate's degree in a technology related field Required Experience: One year experience in telecommunications or related field Relevant work experience may be substituted for education.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience: Experience working within the IT field in the areas of telecommunications, server, or application management. Strong communication skills and ability to write clearly, concisely, and grammatically correct and strong multi-tasking/task management skills Relevant work experience may be substituted for education.
