About The Role
As a
Mainframe Developer
, you will make an impact by designing and implementing robust technical solutions using COBOL, CICS, VSAM, and DB2 to support critical business operations. You will be a valued member of the
Technology & Engineering
team and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure high-performance and reliable mainframe systems.

In This Role, You Will

  • Lead the design and implementation of solutions using CICS, VSAM, and COBOL
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of JCL scripts for efficient batch processing
  • Provide expert guidance in IT Service Management to enhance service delivery
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate DB2 databases into existing systems
  • Analyze and optimize system performance for reliability and efficiency
  • Develop and enforce coding standards and best practices

in a client office located in
New Jersey

What You Need To Have To Be Considered

  • 7+ years of hands-on development experience in mainframe environments
  • Proficiency in DB2, CICS, JCL, COBOL, and VSAM
  • Recent experience (within the last year) in mainframe development projects
  • Exposure to IDZ and GitLab
  • Strong hands-on experience in CICS (mandatory)

  • Experience in performance tuning and optimization of mainframe applications
  • Familiarity with modern DevOps practices in legacy environments
  • Ability to mentor junior developers and enforce coding standards
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills in complex systems
  • Understanding of hybrid infrastructure and integration with cloud platforms

Salary And Other Compensation
Applications will be accepted until November 29th, 2025

The annual salary for this position is between $80,000 - $93,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
