Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Counselor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing support and guidance to students, helping them navigate academic, social, and emotional challenges. This role requires a strong understanding of mental health issues, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with educators, parents, and community resources.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address students' academic and personal challenges.
  • Develop and implement intervention strategies tailored to meet the needs of students with diverse backgrounds.
  • Provide support for students with disabilities, ensuring they receive appropriate resources and accommodations.
  • Utilize techniques such as psychotherapy, applied behavior analysis, and Christian counseling as needed.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation of counseling sessions and student progress.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions focused on behavioral health and PTSD care.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Organize workshops and seminars on topics related to mental health awareness and coping strategies.
  • Monitor student behavior and provide crisis intervention when necessary.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Valid counseling license or certification as required by state regulations.
  • Experience working with children in a school setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health practices and therapeutic techniques.
  • Familiarity with issues related to PTSD care and group therapy facilitation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while adhering to ethical guidelines in counseling practices.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
