Job Description

The purpose of this position is to support the dentist in providing oral healthcare for DOS, DOD, and

contractor personnel stationed in Iraq. The dental assistant is an integral member of the dental treatment team

and performs a wide variety of interventions which contribute to the overall oral health of patients.

  • Assisting with routine dental procedures using concepts of four-handed dentistry.
  • Prepares and sterilizes dental instruments and equipment for procedures.
  • Performs both standard and specialty dental imaging in traditional and/or digital formats.
  • Assist the dentist during various treatments and procedures.
  • Maintain patient records and documentation accurately.
  • Manage patient scheduling and confirm appointments.
  • Provide education regarding oral health and post-treatment care.
  • Ensure dental office adheres to infection control and safety standards.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as billing, coding, and insurance verification.
  • Assist in managing inventory and ordering dental supplies when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, dentists, and other staff members to ensure a smooth

    workflow.
  • 3+ years recent experience preferred; entry-level candidates considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are

    client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory

    bodies.

Qualifications
  • Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Dental Assistant from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States preferred.
  • Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) certified and/or passed the Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) Exam
  • Non-certified individuals with approved on-the-job training can perform basic supportive dental procedures under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • 3+ years' recent experience - including at least six months in the past year.
  • Previous military experience or OCONUS contractor experience in an austere environment is preferred.

Education Required:

  • Successful completion of a 2-year dental assistant program or completion of a 2-year dental hygiene program accredited by the American Dental Association's Commission on Accreditation that included at least 12 semester hours of courses.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements.
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs.

Other Special Qualifications:

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
  • Must relocate to project site for the duration of the contract.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, specifically a MRPT. Applicants with current clearances are preferred.
  • Must be able to relocate to Iraq.
  • Valid US Passport with at least 18 months before expiration date. Must maintain a current passport during your stay in Iraq.

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant's background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
