Position Summary

We're seeking a caring, energetic individual to join our team as a Recreation Assistant & Driver. This dual-role position helps support daily activities for our members and provides safe, friendly transportation to and from the center. The ideal candidate enjoys spending time with older adults, can lead or assist with group activities, and takes pride in providing dependable, courteous transportation.

Schedule

  • Part-Time: 10-20 hours per week
  • Typically Monday–Friday, daytime hours (no evenings or weekends)

Key Responsibilities

As Recreation Assistant:

  • Support and assist with daily programs such as games, crafts, music, and exercise.
  • Encourage social interaction and engagement among participants.
  • Assist members with basic needs during activities (mobility, setup, escorting to restrooms, etc.).
  • Assist with toileting.
  • Help prepare materials for activities and maintain a clean, safe environment.
  • Document participation and report any concerns to the Activity Director or Program Manager.

As Driver:

  • Safely transport participants to and from the center using a company vehicle (mini van)
  • Provide door-to-door assistance as needed (helping participants in and out of vehicles).
  • Conduct daily vehicle safety checks and maintain cleanliness.
  • Follow all traffic and safety laws, and maintain a friendly, professional demeanor with passengers and families.
  • Communicate effectively with staff regarding participant schedules or transportation changes.

Qualifications

  • Valid MN driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience driving a passenger van or providing transportation for seniors preferred.
  • Compassionate and patient personality; enjoys working with older adults and those with memory loss.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Preferred Experience

  • Previous work or volunteer experience in adult day services, assisted living, recreation, or health care.
  • Experience engaging individuals with dementia or mobility challenges.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $ $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
