Position Overview

We are seeking compassionate and dependable Mentors to build positive, supportive relationships with youth involved with the organization. The Mentor role focuses on empowering youth, strengthening decision-making skills, and promoting healthy family and peer relationships through consistent guidance, encouragement, and exposure to new experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a positive, trusting mentoring relationship with assigned youth
  • Empower youth to address current challenges and develop healthy coping strategies for the future
  • Serve as a positive role model by practicing clear communication and appropriate boundaries
  • Actively listen and provide encouragement and emotional support
  • Recognize and encourage youth strengths, talents, and personal growth
  • Engage youth in activities outside the home to expose them to new opportunities and experiences
  • Maintain confidentiality of all participants and program information
  • Communicate regularly with families, caseworkers, and the Director
  • Attend monthly supervision meetings with the Director
  • Complete required application, background checks, and training

Qualifications

  • Willingness to provide emotional, social, and practical support within established boundaries
  • Strong understanding of personal boundaries and ability to set appropriate limits
  • Belief that all individuals have strengths and the ability to grow
  • Valid driver's license and proof of insurance
  • Successful completion of background check and required training
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Ability to work collaboratively with families and professionals
