Job Description:

Systems Safety Engineers assure that systems provide acceptable levels of safety and that critical systems perform as needed even when components fail. Engineer will identify and manage risk in order to eliminate or reduce it to acceptable levels. Risk is the combination of the probability of a failure event and the severity resulting from the failure.


Essential Functions:

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance and additional security background checks as required.Ability to establish and execute a MIL-STD-882 safety program that concludes with a comprehensive safety assessment.Ability to understand the concepts of preliminary and system hazard analysis, hazard logs, fault tree analyses, environmental assessment and management, risk assessments and mitigation and occupational health hazard assessments.Ability to translate system requirements into functional requirementsAbility to interpret technical drawingsAble to work independently or in a teamWillingness and ability to travel up to 10% when required.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.Must be a US citizen
