Join a fast-paced, collaborative, cutting-edge start-up biotechnology company developing the next generation of therapeutic bispecific antibodies focused on extracellular protein degradation. Our mission is to generate novel transformative medicines for the patients that need it most. The incumbent is responsible for developing and executing a suite of assays to screen novel therapeutic antibodies. The successful candidate will contribute to antibody characterization, therapeutic lead selection, and project strategy with the intent to move innovative medicines from hit to candidate nomination. In collaboration with other scientific and technical staff, the candidate will provide laboratory and technical expertise and execute experiments to assess the function of novel biologics.
Essential Job Functions, but not limited to:
- Develop and perform in-vitro cell-based assays to characterize antibody candidates; enable lead selection and candidate mechanism of action studies.
- Scale up newly developed assays to meet high throughput demands and support automation work using high-capacity instruments.
- Perform standard cell culture assays, cell maintenance and banking, knowledge and experience culturing both primary and cancer cell lines.
- Design experiments, generate high quality and reproducible data with limited supervision, and contribute to the analysis and reporting of experimental data.
- Collaborate with other team members to meet project timelines and goals.
- Maintain excellent electronic lab notebook documentation and support daily lab operations including lab upkeep and equipment maintenance.
- Present experimental findings and contribute to scientific discussion at company meetings.
To qualify for this position, candidates must have:
- BS or MS in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences or a related discipline.
- Multiple (ideally 3+) years of professional scientific experience, in an academic or biotechnology company setting.
- Experience in mammalian cell culture required; experience with cancer biology and antibody-based therapeutics highly preferred.
- Expertise in basic flow cytometry, quantitative cellular assays, and data analysis using common software tools (e.g., Microsoft Suite, FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, etc.)
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques such as Western blots, ELISA, and cellular engineering (i.e. transient transfection, lentiviral transduction, RNAi, CRISPRi/a.)
- Hands-on expertise with assay development, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Strong data organization and time management skills, attention to detail, and desire to achieve both team and individual goals.
- Good communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Salary:
The expected base salary range for the Research Associate II role is $83,700 - $102,300.
The above pay range is what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation is based on various factors, including experience, education, skillset, and geographic location. This pay range is for the Bay Area, CA, location and may be adjusted to the labor market in other geographic areas.
