Lab Associate III – Send Outs

• Hours- 7 - 3:30pm
• Days - Monday thru Friday and Every 3rd Weekend
• Duties - This position will be a "Send outs" focused role. Because of the acuity and research aspects of SLCH, there are many complex tests that are sent to a multitude of different laboratories. For these complex tests: specimens need processed, testing needs ordered, specimens need packaged and shipped, reports need reviewed, and results need to be scanned into the patient chart. This role requires strengths in organization, communication, and attention to detail. This role will also require consistent and clear communication with providers and external laboratories.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Performs a variety of pre analytic, analytic and post analytic laboratory duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Performs waived and moderate complex testing with appropriate training and competency, sweat chloride collections, EKG's, etc.
• Under supervision, reports test results as appropriate.
  Sorts and processes routine and specific high level specimens received by the lab- -including multistep technical processing (i.e. Histology, Microbiology, Cytology, etc.). Ensures correct processing and packaging for esoteric send out tests.
• Coordinates a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuation in workload, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
• Inventory management, equipment cleaning, maintenance, loading, etc.

Minimum Requirements

Education

• High School Diploma or GED

Experience

• 2-5 years

• No Experience

Preferred Requirements

Education

• Associate's Degree

Licenses & Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Phlebotomy
