Aquatics Manager

Rose Innovations, LLC, is an inventive, home-based horticultural and aquatic operation featuring a spectacular 2 acre ornamental botanical garden, over 100 indoor aquariums and 4 outdoor ponds. We are seeking an Aquatic Manager for our location in the Greenfield/Hales Corners area. Ideal candidate must be passionate about aquaculture and horticultural.

Duties:

  • Provide necessary care for indoor/outdoor goldfish such as feeding and routine maintenance.
  • Ensure pristine water quality through water quality monitoring, water changes, filter cleaning, debris removal; and algae treatment and removal.
  • Recognize problems, treatment and action plans and reporting fish health problems.
  • Maintain and create practical and aesthetically pleasing aquariums.
  • Plant and maintain indoor/outdoor aquatic plants.
  • Perform routine maintenance of outdoor ponds, stream, bog, fountains and other outdoor water features.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and labeling of fish, plants, supplies and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • **Technical Skills** - Understanding of breeding techniques, genetics, and fish biology. - Proficiency in water quality management and environmental controls.
  • **Management Skills** - Strong leadership and team management abilities. - Project management skills to oversee breeding programs and research initiatives.
  • **Analytical Skills** - Ability to analyze data and assess breeding results to make informed decisions. - Proficient in using aquaculture tools.
  • **Communication Skills** - Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting and collaboration. - Ability to train and mentor staff effectively.
  • **Problem-Solving Skills** - Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to address challenges in breeding programs.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Associate's degree in Biology, Zoology, Conservation biology, Anthropology, Animal sciences, Environmental Studies etc, preferred

Knowledge and Experience

  • 2+ years experience in a managerial role.
  • Minimum of 1 year fish-keeping and/or aquaculture experience.
  • Enthusiasm for raising and caring for fish.
  • Experience with aquarium husbandry practice.
  • Familiarity with fish breeding protocols.
  • Knowledge of fish health problems and treatment options.
  • Asserting creativity to reach the goals of the company.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals written in the English language.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.

Cognitive and Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to think independently, self-start, self-correct and use common sense.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks and redefine priorities as necessary.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision and depth perception.

Job Type

  • Full Time, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
