We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Engineering Technician / Associate Test Engineer to support new product development, embedded systems testing, and production activities. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of CAD modeling skills, embedded system testing capabilities, and a strong foundation in technical documentation and lab practices. This role plays a crucial part in the development, validation, and continuous improvement of hardware products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Test Execution & Debugging: Conduct regression testing and troubleshooting for embedded systems (firmware/software), identifying and documenting anomalies.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Assist in developing and reviewing technical documentation and instruction manuals in coordination with the Marketing and Engineering departments.
  • Manufacturing Support: Support manufacturing by interpreting technical documents, providing training, and delivering clear product documentation.
  • Product Installation: Assist in vehicle-specific product installation and provide technical feedback to Mechanical Engineers to support design improvements.
  • Lab Management: Maintain lab inventory, tools, and equipment; ensure a clean and organized working environment.
  • PCB Rework: Perform rework and soldering of printed circuit boards in line with industry standards.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Up to 1 year of experience with CAD modeling; SolidWorks proficiency highly preferred.
  • Strong foundation in embedded systems testing, debugging, and regression testing.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering schematics and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with component datasheets (both discrete and active circuit components).
  • Hands-on experience in 3D printing / additive manufacturing.
  • Competent in documenting test results, defect reporting, and writing clear technical documentation.
  • Experience in PCB soldering and rework.

Desired Skills and Additional Assets

  • Experience with Altium or other PCB design software.
  • Proficiency with test equipment such as:
  • Oscilloscopes
  • Programmable Power Supplies
  • Programmable Loads
  • Spectrum Analyzers
  • Integrating Spheres
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Experience in mechanical prototyping, including use of hand tools and machine shop equipment.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git, SVN).
  • Experience with bug tracking/project management tools (Jira, Trello, Azure DevOps).
  • Exposure to automated test scripting (e.g., Python, LabVIEW).
  • Understanding of embedded/industrial communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet).
  • Knowledge of IPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001) for electronics assembly.
  • Background in sustaining engineering, including support for product lifecycle and component obsolescence.
  • Ability to perform mechanical assembly/disassembly of prototypes.
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for hardware and test fixture failures.
  • Familiarity with RF and high-frequency testing (if applicable to role).
