This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
The best kept secret in space exploration is the impact of marine assets and the use of one of earth's most abundant resources, it's oceans. The maritime industry has been paramount in the exploration of space since its early development. Hardware and manned capsules have landed in the ocean with marine crews recovering hardware and astronauts since the early days of human spaceflight. As the commercial space industry expands and iterates on reusability to lower the cost of access to space, the importance of marine assets and the crews that operate those assets has never been more paramount. As part of a dedicated team, committed to pushing the boundaries of launch and recovery, you will support operations dedicated to at-sea space hardware recovery. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and reliable space hardware recovery operations.

Responsibilities include:
- Recovery vessel and GSE system fabrication, operation, and preventative maintenance, including:
- Wire harnesses, instrumentation, and communication systems
- Performing checkouts and maintenance per written procedure
- Review and suggest improvements to authored procedures
- General troubleshooting of electrical, instrumentation, network, and communication systems
- Direct support of New Glenn program recovery operations offshore
- Ensure vessels' mission readiness by following established checklists and procedures
- Follow complex technical sequences and operations while adhering to Blue Origin policy and procedures to ensure a safe operational environment
- Perform facility organizational duties to ensure a safe and efficient workplace
- Safely work with hazardous chemicals, high pressure systems, and high voltage systems
- Work with engineers on GSE design concepts, improvements, and development tests
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- 5+ years in an aerospace, marine, or other relevant field maintaining, installing, and repairing electronic control systems & data communications equipment
- Experience with high voltage AC, DC electrical systems, and PLC troubleshooting
- Experience operating and maintaining RF systems (S-band, UHF, VHF)
- Ability to interpret and update wiring diagrams, layout drawings, & engineering specifications
- Familiar with the use of precision calibrated tooling (micrometers, torque wrenches, calipers, volt meters, Oscilloscopes, etc.)
- Familiarity with setting up IT networks (building RJ45, setting IP addresses, configuring network switches and routers)
- Experience building, troubleshooting, and repairing fiber terminations
- Familiarity with maritime navigation equipment (ECDIS, IMU/Heading Sensor, AIS, NME2000/183 standards)
- Familiarity with Serial Communication systems (RS232,RS485,CAN bus etc.
- Must be willing to work on ocean going vessels for extended periods of time (up to 30 days)
- Must be able to work in extreme environments including cold, heat, wind, rain, and the open ocean
- Position will require heavy physical exertion such as climbing stairs and ladders, carrying heavy objects, and the possibility of working at heights or in confined spaces
- Proficient in the use of computer programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and familiarity working with tablet/digital based applications
- Must be able to obtain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as a DOT Physical
- Must be able to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
Desired Qualifications:
- Marine offshore operations experience
- Previous experience working on or recovering launch vehicles or aerospace hardware
- Demonstrated ability to work with:
- High-pressure gas systems (GN2/GHe)
- Hydraulic systems
- Instrumentation and control systems
- Test, flight, and safety critical hardware
- Standard mechanical tools and fabrication shop equipment
- Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes, forklifts, scissor lifts, and personnel lifts, or other industrial equipment
- Experience with TIG/MIG, Orbital welding processes
- Understanding of best practices related to 5S incorporation and to FOD elimination

- Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
