POLICE RECRUIT POSITION SUMMARY

The Authority is currently recruiting a Police Recruit to join Georgia World Congress Center. The Police Officer Recruit is a non-sworn civilian employee and attends a Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certified police academy to learn and perform the responsibilities of an entry-level Police Officer. Upon graduation from the academy the Police Recruit will undergo 12 weeks of supervised field training. The Police Recruit performs under general instructions, but with established policies and procedures to achieve successful results in support of the GWCCA's mission, goals, policies, and objectives. This position reports to the Police Sergeant. The ideal candidate is a skilled professional who takes pride in maintaining high operational and aesthetic standards, works effectively in a team environment, and embodies GWCCA's core values of authenticity, accountability, and teamwork.

POLICE RECRUIT PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Police Recruit to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Police Recruits must maintain the physical condition necessary to effectively perform the duties of law enforcement, including patrol operations, emergency response, arrests, and community engagement. The position requires strength, endurance, agility, and mental alertness under varying and sometimes stressful conditions. The role of a Police Recruit is physically and mentally demanding, requiring continuous alertness, stamina, and the ability to make quick, sound decisions under stress. Physical readiness and ongoing fitness are essential to ensuring safety, effectiveness, and professional performance in law enforcement duties. Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in all weather conditions. Exposure to noise, traffic, crowds, and potentially hazardous situations. Work schedules may include nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.

POLICE RECRUIT ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Attends, participates, and successfully completes a Georgia P.O.S.T. certified training academy and passes all required classes.
• Learns the use and care of firearms, chemical agents, and other weapons.
• Learn to safely operate a motor vehicle under normal and emergency conditions.
• Understands and carries out oral and written directions.
• Learns to write clear, comprehensive, and accurate reports, legibly and with correct grammar and spelling.
• Learns to understand, interpret, and apply criminal laws, regulations, policies and procedures with a focus on the laws of arrest, use of force, custody, search and seizure, and juvenile laws.
• Demonstrates the ability to learn and implement police methods and procedures including patrol techniques, response to crimes in progress, apprehension of suspects, traffic enforcement, accident investigation, crime scene management, and crowd control.
• Learns the principles and practices of effective interpersonal communication and good customer service.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Upon successful completion of the academy and graduation, receives further training as a sworn Police Officer in the Field Training Officer Program and is responsible for performing related duties as required.

POLICE RECRUIT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

• Knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, practices, techniques, and equipment.
• High degree of integrity and work ethic.
• Knowledge of oral and written skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Assess, analyze, and manage risk factors in the face of uncertainty.
• Ability to work an irregular work schedule as required to perform duties and responsibilities.

POLICE RECRUIT EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• Successful completion of Georgia P.O.S.T. entrance exam.
• Be 20 years of age upon acceptance to Georgia P.O.S.T. certified academy.
• Valid Georgia's Drivers License required
