About the Team
ACCEL Schools is seeking a highly-qualified Medical One-on-One Paraprofessional in Colorado Springs, CO. The Medical One-on-One Paraprofessional provides direct, individualized support to a student with significant medical needs throughout the school day. This position ensures the student's safety, well-being, and access to learning opportunities by providing continuous supervision, assistance with medical routines, and collaboration with the school nurse and instructional staff.

About the Opportunity
Responsibilities and qualities of the Medical One-on-One Paraprofessional include-
- Provide constant supervision of the assigned student throughout the school day, including during transitions, recess, lunch, and restroom breaks.
- Accompany the student at all times, ensuring safety in all school settings and during any school-sponsored activities.
- Assist the student with feeding and medication administration via a feeding tube as delegated and trained by the school nurse.
- Track and document medication and feeding schedules; ensure timely trips to the nurse's office for medical care as needed.
- Monitor the student for signs of overheating, fatigue, or medical distress and respond appropriately, including alerting the nurse immediately.
- Support the student's participation in classroom and school activities while maintaining discretion and dignity.
- Communicate regularly with the school nurse, classroom teachers, and administrative staff regarding the student's needs and status.
- Maintain confidentiality of all student health and educational information.
- Follow all school health, safety, and emergency procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned that support the health and safety of the student.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a school, healthcare, or childcare setting preferred.
- Ability to complete and maintain delegated medical procedure training from the school nurse.
- Demonstrated reliability, responsibility, and discretion in handling confidential information.
- Ability to remain calm and responsive in emergency or stressful situations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move quickly in response to student needs.
- May involve bending, lifting (up to 40 lbs), or assisting the student with mobility as needed.
- Must be able to remain alert and attentive throughout the school day.
Work Environment
- School environment with regular student interaction.
- Frequent walking and standing.
- Work is performed under the supervision of the school nurse and administrative staff.

The starting hourly rate for this position is $21.37/hour. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
We offer the following benefits for full-time positions, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, short-term disability insurance, 10 paid holidays annually. All eligible employees will participate in Colorado's Family & Medical Leave Insurance Program, in accordance with state law.
Paid Time Off: The amount of Paid Time Off (PTO) employees accrue is determined by both their position and the length of their employment term. Employees could accrue up to 10 days of paid time off for 10-month roles, 11 days of paid time off for 11-month roles and 15 days of paid time off for 12-month roles.
We offer several plans to choose from, with a wide range of deductibles and co- insurance levels. We offer plans with set co-pays for certain medical services, as well as a high deductible plan with set co-insurance levels after deductibles have been met. All plans offer both in-network and out-of-network coverage. We also offer flexible spending and health savings accounts.
