Position Overview
The School of Nursing at Boise State University invites applications for a 10-month Clinical Assistant Professor faculty position in the RN BS Online Completion Program. We are open to applicants with various nursing specialties and areas of focus.

The ideal start date for this position is August 2026. This is a remote position, with travel to campus required for select events including, but not limited to: one graduation and convocation ceremony annually, accreditation site visits and other events that meet the needs of the School of Nursing.

Clinical Faculty will focus primarily on teaching students in both didactic and direct care experience courses, and engaging in professionally related community service. While they may participate in research or scholarship activities, they are not required to do so as part of their regular assignment.

A minimum of a master's degree in nursing is required; a doctorate is preferred. Candidates must hold an active, unencumbered nursing license in both Idaho and their state of residency; multistate licensure required by the date of employment, if available in state of residency. A Minimum of two years of experience as a nurse educator is required; with at least one year of experience in fully online teaching preferred. Candidates should be technologically competent with online learning management systems (ie Canvas), Google Workspace, Zoom, video communication and use of a virtual private network and will be able to effectively utilize distance accessible technology to deliver quality education.

Workload will be determined at the time of appointment. For clinical faculty, the standard workload is 80% teaching and 20% service, or approximately 12 hours of didactic and clinical/lab/simulation courses per semester.

Adjustments will be made based on research productivity, coordination duties, and service responsibilities, as negotiated with the Director and approved by the Dean.

: An online program for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (nurse anesthetists, nurse practitioners, and nurse midwives). The program focuses on quality improvement and translating theory into practice.

Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
: A program offered through the BS-DNP Doctor of Nursing Practice.

Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP)
: A program offered through the BS-DNP Doctor of Nursing Practice.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of experience as a nurse educator in an academic setting; at least one year of experience teaching online courses
  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Active, unencumbered nursing license in both Idaho and state of residency; multistate licensure required by the date of employment, if available in state of residency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Nursing Education
  • Experience creating online experiential learning activities
  • Ability to coordinate online courses
  • Undergraduate (prelicensure or RN BS) level teaching experience
  • Online teaching certifications

Salary And Benefits
Salary commensurate with rank of Clinical Assistant Professor

Our standard RN BS Program faculty contract is a 10-month contract (unless otherwise noted) with pay and benefits spread over 12 months. This is a yearly, renewable contract, unless noted that the position is temporary. More information about faculty contract and work days is available here.
