Job Summary and Responsibilities

Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual seeking a PRN opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and adolescents experiencing mental health challenges? CHI Immanuel Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility is looking for a motivated and empathetic Mental Health Technician to join our team

At CHI Immanuel, we believe in creating a supportive and structured environment where our young residents can heal, grow, and develop the skills they need to thrive. As a PRN Mental Health Technician, you will play a vital role in empowering our patients to build a brighter future.

Schedule: This PRN position offers a flexible schedule, requiring 48 hours of commitment within a 6-week period, providing a great opportunity to supplement your current work or education. This schedule will include rotating holidays.

As a Mental Health Technician, you will be an integral part of our interdisciplinary team, contributing to a therapeutic environment that fosters personal growth and recovery. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Promoting Individuality and Self-Expression: Actively assist patients in developing their unique identities and appropriate methods of self-expression. You will create an environment where patients feel safe to problem-solve, test out new behaviors, and build essential coping skills.
  • Encouraging Responsibility and Growth: Provide consistent feedback and positive reinforcement to help patients acknowledge and accept responsibility for their psychological and behavioral patterns. This includes consistently applying program rights and regulations, utilizing our behavior modification program, and communicating in an appropriate and therapeutic manner with each patient.
  • Facilitating Admissions: Participate in admission procedures, warmly orienting new patients and their families (or significant others) to our unit and program, ensuring a smooth and welcoming transition.
  • Providing Basic Patient Care: Perform essential tasks that support patient well-being and safety, including:
    • Conducting regular patient safety rounds.
    • Assisting with admissions and discharges.
    • Taking vital signs and blood pressure.
    • Collecting specimens as needed.
    • Performing accu checks.
    • Weighing patients accurately.
    • Assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) as required.
