The Markmann Lab at UNC -Chapel Hill is seeking a senior Research Specialist to work enthusiastically on protein expression, purification, and structural studies of monoclonal antibodies targeting dengue and Zika viruses. Additionally, we utilize cloning studies to elucidate cross-neutralizing serum antibody responses to dengue and Zika virus infections. We are a BSL2 lab, utilizing x-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, human memory B cell cloning, viral neutralization assays, and other epitope mapping studies to understand this, with the ultimate goal of informing cross-protective vaccine design.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
Experience in laboratory work. Basic BSL2 level laboratory experience, protein cloning, PCR , protein binding assays, mammalian cell culture, data analysis and organization, basic lab maintenance, and organization. Ability to plan, execute, analyze, and troubleshoot experiments independently.
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
