Creative Development Intern — for Films and Animation Start Up

Location: Remote or Los Angeles, CA

Type: Internship (Part-Time / Flexible Hours)

Compensation: School credit or stipend (based on experience)

About the Animation Start Up

NENU The Magical Wizard is an emerging children's entertainment brand and animation IP that celebrates imagination, courage, and self-confidence. The world of NENU includes illustrated storybooks, animated shorts, and licensed products (toys, plush, coloring books, etc.), all built around our magical forest world and its beloved characters. We're looking for passionate, creative interns who want hands-on experience building a world-class animated property from the ground up.

  • Helping organize scripts, storyboards, and visual reference materials for animation and film projects.
  • Supporting creative brainstorming sessions — contributing ideas for story, tone, and design.
  • Researching comparable films, animation styles, and story worlds.
  • Coordinating with illustrators, animators, and production vendors as needed.
  • Assisting with marketing materials, social media content, and investor decks for projects in development.
  • Light administrative and organizational support (scheduling, file management, Dropbox/Google Drive organization).

What You'll Do

  • Support the creative development.
  • Collaborate with writers, illustrators, and producers on world-building and storytelling.
  • Assist in visual development — designing backgrounds, props, and character poses.
  • Help organize and track artwork versions, file naming conventions, and animation files.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions for episode ideas, shorts, and visual tone.
  • Research animation trends, color palettes, and style references relevant to preschool and children's brands.
  • Assist in content prep for social media and marketing campaigns (Reels, teasers, etc.).
  • Coordinate with third-party studios and artists to maintain brand consistency.

Ideal Skills & Experience

  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Animation, Illustration, Digital Media, or Film/TV Production.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following:
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro)
  • Procreate or Clip Studio Paint
  • Toon Boom Harmony, TVPaint, or Blender (a plus)
  • Basic understanding of storyboarding, character design, and motion principles.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced creative start-up environment.
  • A love for storytelling, children's content, and whimsical worlds

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with social media content creation (Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts).
  • Familiarity with brand development or marketing for entertainment IPs.
  • Copywriting or scriptwriting interest for short-form animation.
  • Knowledge of Bluey, Puffin Rock, or similar preschool animation styles.
