Discovering Kindness In Home Services is looking for an Live-In Companion & ILST (Independent Living Skills Trainer) experienced with brain injury and/or mental health clients. We need an aide who has experience working as a Personal Companion and ILST for and ABI case for our male client in Danbury. This is a permanent live-in position for 3 days per week, Sat., Sun., & Mon. You will help our brain injury client remain safe at home and to achieve their highest level of independence. This client is mostly independent with his personal care but is a fall risk and sometimes needs standby. Someone who can provide guidance for shopping, housekeeping and laundry, appointments, and meal prep as needed. He sometimes needs reminders and guidance for setting and keeping appts, arranging rides, managing her paperwork, & interacting with others. Looking for a compassionate, patient and professional ABI aid.
ABI (Acquired Brain Injury) ILST Assistants perform the following:
Performing the following tasks, or assisting, or cueing the participant to perform them:
a. Meal planning and preparation, shopping, basic household tasks
b. Assist with reminders as needed with dressing, personal grooming and hygiene as needed and maintaining safetyAssisting or cueing the participant to perform or become engaged in:
a. Family, social, and recreational activities.
b. Appropriate use of natural community supports (e.g., social clubs, faith-based supports).
c. Assist with appropriate use of routine medical/dental services.
d. Prompting use of medications as prescribed, including self- administration of medications.
e. Healthy habits (healthy diet, exercise, and behaviors designed to alleviate stress).
f. Fulfillment of personal commitments, and adherence to scheduled appointments/meetings (e.g.,clinical, vocational, educational, and judicial/court).Assisting or cueing the participant to avoid:
a. Avoiding risky behaviors, substance abuse, overspending, conflictsSupportive and problem solving-oriented discussions with the participant.
Establishing and maintaining a helpful, supportive, companionship relationship with the participant that involves such activities as:
a. Escorting the participant to necessary medical, dental, or personal business appointments;
b. Reading to or for the participant;
c. Engaging in or discussing recreational, hobby, or sport-related activities;- Other activities directed at reducing disability, restoring participant functioning and achieving independent participation in social, interpersonal, family, or community activities and full community reintegration and independence;
Duties:
- Provide training determined by current care plan
- Coordinate client programs and appointments
- Utilize EVV clock in/out system
Requirements:
- previous experience
- Authorized to work in the U.S. with reliable transportation
- Must be reliable, professional, & compassionate
- ABI/Brain injury experience a plus
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $ $250.00 per day
