Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Area Manager to oversee a portfolio of affordable housing communities within the St. Louis, Missouri area. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property management, particularly in HUD, LIHTC, and other affordable housing programs, with proven leadership skills to guide onsite teams and ensure compliance, occupancy, and financial goals are met.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of multiple affordable housing communities within assigned region.

  • Ensure full compliance with HUD, LIHTC, and other affordable housing program requirements.

  • Provide leadership, training, and support to community managers and onsite staff.

  • Monitor financial performance and assist in budgeting, forecasting, and expense control.

  • Conduct regular property inspections to ensure curb appeal, maintenance standards, and regulatory compliance.

  • Foster strong relationships with residents, ownership, and regulatory agencies.

  • Oversee marketing, leasing, and occupancy initiatives to maintain optimal performance.

  • Review and approve reports, audits, and compliance documentation as required.

  • Lead by example in promoting a positive, professional, and inclusive work culture.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in multi-site property management, with 3+ years in affordable housing programs (HUD, LIHTC, Section 8, etc.).

  • Strong knowledge of Fair Housing, REAC, MOR, and compliance regulations.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop high-performing teams.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Proficiency in property management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS)

  • Tax Credit Specialist (TCS)

  • Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP)
