Reports to: Director, Residence Life & Student Conduct
Work Schedule: 35 hours/week; 12 months/year

Salary Range: $54,900 - $68,600
General Purpose
The Assistant Director of Residential Communities will provide leadership with a focus on student development for MICA's residential communities of approximately 1,000 students, 25 Residential Advisors, and 2 Residential Coordinators. The Assistant Director will serve as the functional lead on critical programmatic functions with the aim of delivering on the educational promise of the residential experience. The Assistant Director will aid the Director with carrying out the long-term vision, mission and goals of the department and the college.
Summary of Essential Functions:
Oversee the implementation and assessment of the , the institution's vision for residential programming and resident student engagement
Provide leadership with a focus on student and community development for MICA's residential communities of approximately 1,000 students housed across multiple facilities
Provides direct or indirect supervision to 2 Residential Coordinators, and 25 Residential Advisors.
Serve as a primary institutional conduct officer for the residential communities.
Position Responsibilities:
Develop a thriving residential community that encourages student participation and growth
Hire, train, and supervise two Residential Coordinators
Hire, train, and provide support to approximately 25 student Residential Advisors
Serve as a lead conduct officer for the residential communities by upholding and interpreting the rights and responsibilities of students through fair enforcement of College and residential policies; Serve as a Title IX Investigator as needed
Develop effective advising and mentoring relationships with residents regarding academic success, social networking, identity, and physical/emotional health
Establish the annual vision, with the Director, for residential programming that focuses on the educational, social, cultural, professional, and personal needs of residents, inclusive of Special Interest Communities
Partner with Orientation and other colleagues to ensure that students are welcomed into the residential communities at key points of the year such as semester openings
Manage, with the Assistant Director of Central Operations, the various residential programming, student development, and training budgets
Conduct an assessment of student learning outcomes and collect data on program outcomes; share findings and data with key stakeholders, following MICA's assessment guidelines
Provide crisis intervention and serve as a member of the on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies
Identify and respond to the needs of students in cooperation with the Residence Life team, other Student Affairs and College staff, and MICA faculty
Serve on various on-campus divisional and departmental committees such as the assessment committee, student leadership recognition committee, retention committees, and the student selection committee
Support major campus programs such as Orientation, Family Weekend, and student leadership initiatives
Perform other related duties as assigned

Familiarity with creating or operating housing operations procedures
Minimum qualifications:
Master's degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education, or related field
Relevant experience in residence life operations
Preferred qualifications:
Appreciation for the visual arts
Previous experience implementing and assessing a residential curriculum.
Maxient and residential student database experience
Previous live-in residential professional experience
Partnership or collaboration with faculty

Required training: Handbook orientation, Anti-Harassment, Hazard Communication, Emergency Plans & Fire Prevention, Personal Protection Equipment. (additional training may be added, SEE: EHS Manager training schedule)
