SANY's Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship is excited to announce the opening of a School Guidance Counselor (Grades K-6) for the Academic Year.

We are looking for a dynamic and creative School Guidance Counselor. We have a great environment for new staff members and encourage experienced staff to apply New York State Certification required.

We need School Guidance Counselor who will:

  • Must be skilled at working with K-5 school grades who may have emotional, family or scholastic difficulties.

  • Have good communication skills enabling them to communicate effectively with school staff, families and community members.

  • Ability to problem-solving is critical for this position, as school counselors must resolve personal disputes on a daily basis.

  • Collaborate with staff to determine charter requirement for the instructional goals, objectives and methods

  • Have excellent content knowledge and pedagogy

  • Welcome the use of analytics and data to help drive instruction and promote learning

  • Appreciate regular feedback, accountability and the rewards that come with doing a great job serving our students & communities

What you need

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling required; Master's degree preferred

  • NYS Counseling Certification

  • Experience with a diverse population of students or in an urban setting a plus

  • Prior teaching experience preferred and novice teachers encouraged to apply

  • Fingerprint clearance through NYS Department of Education
