Posting Summary

Rutgers University School of Criminal Justice invites applications for instructors to teach in the newly launched Executive Master's in Criminal Justice program. We are seeking an instructor to teach a graduate-level course on Management and Leadership in Criminal Justice for Spring 2026. The course will run from January to May

Position responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality instruction for an online graduate-level course on Management and Leadership in Criminal Justice.
• Respond to student inquiries in a timely manner and provide constructive feedback on assignments.
• Develop and implement effective teaching strategies tailored to adult learners managing multiple life commitments.
• Utilize online learning platforms and tools proficiently, including but not limited to Canvas, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.
• Participate in two "in-person" weekend sessions per semester; the "in-person" weekends will occur during the months of January and May 2026.
• Contribute to the School and Executive MA program through service and engagement as needed.
• Support student success by offering guidance, mentorship, and professional role modeling.
• Maintain regular virtual office hours.
• Establish clear learning objectives and implement effective assessment tools to measure student progress.
• Attend instructional design workshops offered by the Rutgers University-Newark P3 Collaboratory.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

• A terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., J.D., M.A.) in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of five years of leadership experience within a criminal justice institution.
• At least one year of teaching experience in higher education.
